Rise & Shine by Siri Sadhana Kaur went through a two-year journey from conception to completion. It began with a journey from London to recording on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, UK, and then migrated to San Francisco where further layers and musical ideas were developed with producer and multi-instrumentalist Ram Dass Khalsa.

Rise & Shine is Siri Sadhana's 8th album and is enriched by the vocal gold of her daughter Aloka Collister. Aloka's soulful voice and talent has taken her touring, singing live on stage with her mother and appearing on previous albums.

Both heavily influenced by West Africa, mother and daughter invited Aloka's father, Afla Sackey's percussion and djembe playing skills rooted in his Ghanaian ancestry. Kadialy Kouyate, a gifted Kora player, comes from the lineage of the Kouyate Griot in Senegal and contributes his masterful melodies and rhythms to this album.

Aloka's deep, clear and resonant vocals harmonize perfectly with Siri's dynamic vocal approach. Her voice is beautifully showcased on several tracks, but particularly so on "Echoes", a timeless piece written while standing on the edge of Ireland's east coast looking towards the Isle of Man. This special moment was an inspiration from the ancestors. Siri's paternal and maternal ancestry are linked to these two islands.

The depth and richness of this album was enhanced by the skill and experience of Jag, whose production and music career has spanned 35 years and who has composed and produced for UNIVERSAL MUSIC and SONY MUSIC. He placed particular emphasis on his technical specialization and honored the meditative and sacred that has developed from his years of work in the field of alternative and conscious music.
