WHITE SOUND is the central part of a gong meditation: the climax where the sound culminates and tilts. In this way, the mind of the listener is supported to indulge in a meditative inner silence. This is extremely effective and truly overwhelming as a live experience. So if you have the opportunity, take part in the gong meditation of a well-trained gong player. You can get an idea of this on the middle minute of the Gong Meditation track on this CD. Since the White Sound actually eludes recording and enjoyment from stereo systems, the majority of the recording is recorded at a lower volume. Everything is played in a state of meditative trance, using inner techniques to help the listener let go and meditate. All instruments are tuned and played for inner peace. Recorded in an environment of healing, using six microphones, they are carefully processed to come as close as possible to the natural sound of the room.

USE THIS CD to go within: whether at home, in yoga classes or in hypnotherapy. The average playing time of approx. 11 minutes each is recommended for deep and invigorating relaxation, while remaining in an optimal state of rest just before falling asleep. The Gong Meditation Track can be used in yoga classes when a gong or a trained gong player is not available (Kundalini Yoga Kriyas often include gong meditations—whether to enhance the effects of yoga or as a standalone experience). Anyone who has already experienced a live gong meditation will be reminded of the trance when listening to the recording and their system will react in a similar way. The monochord recording is also suitable for shorter or in-between relaxations because you can easily fade it in and out.

WHEN LISTENING, MAKE SURE it is neither too loud - to protect your ears - nor too quiet, because you want to feel something too. The best way to test it is to go to the middle of the track you want to hear to set a good volume. It is best to use speakers, not headphones, because the whole body feels. Sit or lie down comfortably, feel and meditate. Hear the sound resonating in every cell of the body. When inner images or emotions arise, just watch them fade away - hold on to the physical sensations of the sound. Just be present, and whatever happens, happens - let go.

THE GONG on this recording is a symphonically tuned 32-inch (81 cm) Paiste tam-tam gong that had been played for healing purposes for over six years at this point. Exactly these gongs are recommended for the gong meditation style as taught by Yogi Bhajan and in the tradition of which it is taught by Nanak Dev Singh. There is an art and science of playing gong meditations, taught through training and then acquired and refined throughout life. The gong also matures: every time it is played meditatively and therapeutically, its sound gains in beauty and subtle effectiveness. Gong meditation is used to heal old pain and trauma; also to deepen meditation; it's about letting go, surrender and transformation.

SINGING BOWL have similar effects on the human spirit, but in a motherly way: they connect to the earth, they carry the listener through the experience, with pure chiming. The bowls used here are made by a Nepalese manufacturer with a long family tradition and imported by Tibetan Lama Art (Hamburg). They have been chosen to suit specific body regions and chakras where they have a particularly strong resonance, and are also played standing directly on the body for sound massages - another very deep sound experience.

THE MONOCHORD was built by Johannes Baehr from Spirit Sound Art. All 23 strings of the instrument are tuned to the same C# (C sharp), a heart tone. If the strings are played simultaneously, the friction of the identical tones creates lush overtones and undertones. The monochord is an elongated box that is also placed on the client's body for sound therapy. It stimulates the nervous system and then relieves tension.

Ada Devinderjit is an alternative practitioner for psychotherapy, yoga teacher and specialist trainer in Hamburg; also a gong student of Nanak Dev Singh (Triguna Yoga Ashram, Berlin).
